Mexico day 3 - A day of rest

Well I'm afraid this will be a particularly boring day to read about, even if it was a pleasant one for us. Today was a complete day of rest. We slept in, swam in the pool, read books, played games, took naps, and generally lounged about. It was glorious.

I spent a lot of my time catching up on the last two days and David took the kids to the pool twice (he is such an amazing uncle!). James spent a lot of time cooking for us and had to go back to the store because the chicken we'd purchased yesterday turned out to be rotten. But even he found time for a nap and some relaxation.

Friends

Christian got some sun today and his freckles are popping!

Today was so windy! We opened up all the patio doors and let the ocean breeze sweep through the house. Some of the local black birds came to visit our patio too but every time we moved towards a camera they flew away. They are ubiquitous though so I'm sure we'll capture one of them in a picture at some point.

Christian and I sat on the balcony and read a book, only sometimes distracted by watching a pelican fish or Mexican soldiers drive down the beach. Christian stole a coconut from an agouti but returned it when he found it to be partially eaten already. And James opened the coconut Christian had picked up yesterday! All the coconut loving people said it was amazing and the best they've ever had. You can't beat fresh. :-) Speaking of, there is a fruit market here that we really need to try, we just weren't up for a walk today.

It turns out Xander is a bit of a shark when it comes to games, at least dice games. He dominated a lot of the games we played and took out Will in the most devastating turn I've ever seen. But I got him back by lying believably in liar's dice tonight. Although maybe this is why no one trusts me?

Christian was the champion yesterday
but Xander beat him by 2 seconds today

In addition to relaxing, James and I also got to spend some quality time with David and with each other. All of my siblings are amazing so it kinda feels weird to praise just one. But David is one of my all time favorite people. He is a good man. Wise, kind, funny, and his company is eminently enjoyable.

But we are getting up early to go to Chichen Itza and it is already very late! Goodnight!
