Alien Adventure in our Neighborhood

Tonight we had quite an adventure. It might have seemed to the outside observer that we were a family taking an evening stroll to the local playground, but the reality was much more exciting.

We were a team of aliens, united to defend the earth. I was Commander Shepard (from Mass Effect not Atlantis), Will was Prince Wards Slayer, Jon was a Banshee named Psychic Slash Laser, and Christian was an unknown alien called Psychic Battle Kick. On our journey to the battlefield I was able to learn about some of their backstories.

Prince Wards Slayer is the heir to his father's kingdom and the second most powerful sword builder of the Sword nation. His father will pass his knowledge and power on to him when he dies. The planet of the Swords is the only planet that does not orbit a sun, instead their planet travels through space harvesting daylight from other suns they pass. The Swords biggest enemy are the Wards, terrifying creatures with sharp swords for nails and a tail, deadly teeth, and five eyes each on a long stalk.

Psychic Slash Laser is the only one of his kind that is good and who wants to help humans. He has a sister who was taken over by a vampire curse, turning her into a deadly Banshee Vampire. He tried to save her from the curse by entering her mind but the darkness inside was too deep and he could only stay in for fifteen minutes or his presence would burn her mind up. Since he was not able to destroy the curse he has to lock his sister up in the middle of the night to keep her from hurting people while her vampire powers are strong.

I'm not sure what planet Psychic Battle Kick is from and his powers were pretty unclear. He did seem to have visions though as well as super strength.

As we neared the battlefield Psychic Battle Kick began to come under Psychic attack. He would drop to his knees clutching at his head and be unable to speak. Eventually he would break free of whatever was holding him and rush forward but all too soon another attack would begin. After a quick fight we made it to the Gazebo and established a stronghold. But we weren't safe from mental attacks and Psychic Battle Kick succumbed to a strong one and fell prostrate on the ground.

Psychic Slash Laser and I defended the Gazebo from a relentless Banshee attack while Prince Wards Slayer tried to revive Battle Kick. Wards Slayer entered his mind but whatever had hurt Psychic Battle Kick attacked him as well. Soon both warriors were on the floor writhing under the painful attack. After we beat back the Banshees Slash Laser was able to use his powers to create a psychic shield for his companions and I was able to revive them with some potions that I had brought.

Hoping for safety we left the Gazebo and headed for a small grove of trees near a stream but as we got closer it became clear that the trees hid a menacing presence. The grove was especially dangerous for Prince Wards Slayer who was susceptible to the creatures mental and physical attacks. Psychic Battle Kick however had recovered from his ordeal and was a powerhouse on the battlefield, dealing damage left and right.

During one of our battles Psychic Slash Laser lost the crystal that powered his most powerful weapon. In vain he retraced his steps searching for it while we laid down cover fire. Finally, as it began to get dark, he gave up the search and after a final fight we left the battlefield and headed back to base.

With the setting of the sun the Wards had gone into hiding but dusk was still a prime time for Banshees. We had to hurry because once it got really dark the Sword Zombies would come out and we would not be able to fight both enemies. Fortunately for us Banshees, with the exception of the noble Psychic Slash Laser, shun the light so we were able to move from lamp post to lamp post in relative safety.

We did make it back to base safely and after some ice cream headed for our bunks. My teammates are resting now so that we can be ready for another adventure tomorrow.
