Today we traveled up to Munich to go shopping. Our first stop was a large department store
with a buffet. Will chose to eat only
sausages but Jon filled his plate with carrots, mushrooms, potatoes and
broccoli. My son won’t touch broccoli at
home but here he ate two helpings. As he ate
we talked about Grandpa Z and how much he loves it.

After lunch
we hung out in the toy area while Grandma shopped downstairs. Camille has been teaching the boys how to
shop and they already have their own styles.
Will could spend all day looking at different things and deciding what
to get. Eventually he decided to get a
set of fake Euros to play with. Jon
approaches shopping in his own way. He
walked in, found the little Batman he wanted right away and was not tempted by
anything else the whole time we were there.
Jon did the same thing when we went to find
the boys a sweater. Today was rainy and
Munich was much colder than we had expected, far too cold for the boys’ thin
coats. When we stopped to get them each
a sweater or fleece, Jon went right away to the winter jackets. He found a Spiderman jacket, put it on and
then marched over to Daddy and twirled round with his arms spread while saying,
“Ta-Da!”

We walked around Munich for quite a while, looking at stores and having
hot chocolate at a café. At one point Grandma
and Will went into a linen store where Camille asked the shop girl for the
price of a pillow. When she was told 20
euros Will put his paper money on the counter and said “I have money, Grandma”.

My feet are killing me from the hike yesterday but aside from lunch and
the café I couldn’t find anywhere to sit in the city. On the mountain there was a bench around
every corner but here in Munich there was no place to sit. We had planned on having dinner at the
Hofbrauhaus (James’ favorite restaurant) but we were all pretty tired so we
decided to head home early. I think we
could all use a bit of a rest.
Auf Wiedersehen!
