Saturday: Our drive down has been great the last two days. We have hit some traffic but we are having a blast spending time together. We always listen to audio books on road trips and this time we are listening to The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. Well, first time for the kids anyway. Will and Jon love it but poor Christian is not a fan. He has been outvoted though and we have been listening every chance we get!
Occasionally we do take a break from the audio book to listen to some music. James and I have been particularly enjoying our mix of old highschool and college songs. But the boys favorite song has been "You're gonna go far, kid" by Offspring (the clean version!). They ask to listen to it again, and again, and again, and again. I love it too but it starting to drive me a little crazy!
We like to stop at roadside attractions on our trips and James was looking forward to checking out South of the Border, a place between North and South Carolina. We'd heard of it before and for 100 miles we saw billboard after billboard advertising the wonders that could be found there. Our anticipation grew and when we pulled into the parking lot James announced "We're here!" Christian looked around with dismay, "This isn't Disney". Then, more frantically, "This isn't Disney!" And then he burst into tears. After we stopped laughing James and I comforted him and he enticed him to come with us into one of the stores. As far as roadside attractions go I couldn't see what the attraction was. But the kids were able to pick out one cheap toy to buy so they were happy. We didn't end up staying long and were soon back on the road.

Since we had plenty of time we decided to stop at a hotel with a pool and enjoy a bit of the evening. We found a very nice hotel but unfortunately the pool was in very poor condition. I didn't even want to get in! But we swam a little for the kids before heading up to our room.
Sunday: We are here! Our apartment is gorgeous. We decided not to stay in the Disney hotels this time because of the high cost and instead found a beautiful apartment in the Disney area for a little over $100 a night. I could not be happier. The kids bedroom is on the other side of our apartment, we have a little balcony, and the master bathroom has a whirpool tub! I know I'm old but this is the height of luxury. The property itself has four or five pools, two lazy rivers, and lots of activities which the kids were eager to explore.

The lazy river was fantastic, if poorly named. The water was much warmer than it was in the pools and the scenery was excellent. We swam past cannons, a fort, and under tunnels. It was by far the prettiest lazy river I've seen. Of course, it wasn't exactly lazy. The goal with these always seems to be to see how fast you can get around and tonight was no exception. James and I kept up with Christian who was up to his neck but Will and Jon outpaced us pretty quickly. It was great fun though and not too crowded. I really hope we are able to spend more time here swimming!
As we walked to and from the pools, Will would periodically exclaim "The plants here are even more beautiful in the dark!" or "The sounds! I find the sounds of crickets so pleasant" or "This place is so beautiful I don't think I should even see it."
The kids are finally asleep in bed and James and I are preparing for tomorrow and our first day at the Magic Kingdom. Goodnight!
